About us
The South London Concert Band is the area's longest established concert band, having been formed in 1968. Although there has been a great number of new musicians who have joined since then, current members have between them clocked up nearly 340 playing years.
A warm and friendly environment, where enjoyment of music is a central ethos, people tend to stay once they join: to take just one example: Tony Ryan, our conductor, started off as a clarinet player in the Band as a teenager - not that he admits to being much older than that now!
The Band enjoy playing at a variety of events both in the local area and further a-field - for example, a recent successful tour was held in Devon.
The Band stage their own concerts, as well as take bookings for appearances at fetes, music festivals, shopping centres and charity events.
